All gauges including the clock work as they need to as do all signals, wipers, and lights. The air conditioning works, but just recently developed a need for a re-charge. The like brand-new interior is in fantastic condition and shows definitely no indicators of wear including the carpet & & headliner
. The body and undercarriage appear incredibly solid consisting of floors, mounts, and so on. The owner is not knowledgeable about the body and any filler appears really straight and unmarked. A few pieces of stainless have a couple of extremely minor dings, however appear rather good, and the chrome resembles brand-new.
The Mark V style trunk lid includes that extra touch of course to the appearance of this charm. Ford dealers sent out a percentage of these to a certified coach contractor for the conversion to look a lot like the Mark V Lincoln at about a $5,000 lower cost and offered them new as the Mini Mark. While not numerous of these were developed, they were a success with buyers. This fantastic unusual classic would look ideal in your driveway. The following are comments from a person that worked the line when these were built and owned one at one time:.
Great Bird. FYI, I dealt with the production line building the T-Birds in Chicago in '77, '78 &&'79. This was probably built there. There were aftermarket coachbuilders including extras to these 77 T-Birds to press sales. Dealerships would send out certain automobiles for the add-on's. This was initially a plain Town Landau. A coachbuilder added that fiberglass humped trunk cover and the complete vinyl roofing system to impersonate the more expensive Lincoln Mark V of the very same year. They called them a "Mini-Mark" & & they offered extremely well. These automobiles with the "Mini-Mark" choice were approx. $12K new compared to $17K for the stock Lincoln Mark V. The humped trunk lid & & complete vinyl roofing system addition made them resemble a tiny Mark V. I had among these "Mini-Mark" T-Birds at that time. I still have the humped trunk lid but not the vehicle as a tree fell on it in a storm several years ago. Looks very nice.
